Be Authentic Just Like San Pedro

The quaint little village of San Pedro Alcántara is a little piece of authentic Spain.  It is situated west and just on the other side of the high flying town of Marbella, 20 kilometers from Estepona, with the Sierra de Ronda mountain range not 10 kilometers away.

People love San Pedro as its uniquely Spanish in its feel, its look and experience and this is why so many enjoy visiting and living here.  If you would prefer to live the typical Spanish way then this is definitely the place for you.  It is tranquil and pretty with a laid back attitude to life but there is enough intermittent hustle and bustle around you to keep your attention.

Magna Estates can offer you a slice of this authentic lifestyle as we pride ourselves as the true epitome of Spain.

The village has progressed slightly since its ancient farming days and was once famous for its sugar cane production.  However it hasn’t succumbed to being an overly commercial or a heavily populated tourist attraction but has firmly stuck more to its authentic Andalucían roots.  This gives it its untouched, original and genuine surroundings that encapsulate what real Spain is all about and what it once was.  This connection between past and present is its charm and appeal to many who visit and make their home here.

Unspoilt Spanish Village

It is a very tranquil and relaxed village and indeed prides itself on being one of the last unspoiled areas of the Costa del Sol.  San Pedro doesn’t flaunt or overly promote itself but is quite content to stay a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

In the main square, old side of town there are lots of winding little streets all interconnecting and enveloped by whitewashed buildings and a quaint little church.  This place is very traditional and very laid back as are the people that like to visit and enjoy some quiet time, strolling along the beach and promenade on those long sunny days, stopping off at the shops or taking a break for coffee or beer and tapas along the way.  Sounds blissful…

Situated just across the road from the main plaza you will discover the Nueva Alcántara, the newer side of the area, consisting of long boulevards, small garden areas, the beach and stunning blue waters of the Mediterranean.  Many of the Spanish families chose this area to congregate together and is the chosen meeting place for friends and family to join and lovers to court.  And as the village itself is located on rich and fertile land, this reflects in the restaurants cuisine, which uses so many of the local crops.

San Pedro Boulevard

An Environmental Project that has been much sought after by locals of San Pedro has now connected the sea to urban areas and the historic centre of San Pedro, via a visionary boulevard.

The project is vast and is full of inspired ideas of green zones, water features, sport and play areas.

This community connection is exactly what the people of this town wish to maintain, it has been said it is a `reconilliation of the past with the present`. This is the perfect solution of maintaining the beach, sea and town connected without the interruptions of road networks.

Now completed and inaugurated with a lavish firework display you can enjoy this new project

Be Authentic Just Like San Pedro

Not unlike other Spanish towns and villages all over the Costa del Sol, San Pedro stirs in the early light of a sunny morning, and rouses into action, taking its customary nap (siesta) at the hottest part of the day, then coming back to life again with a burst of excitement when the sting of the sun has dissipated and its safe to come back out again.  This is the nature of the Spanish people and most who live here don’t mind joining in the tradition.

As for being a resident here, San Pedro de Alcántara seems to have everything you could need for everyday living, from two main and large supermarkets and toy stores to boutiques, restaurants and bars.  There is even a local International College, an A&E department and 24 hour pharmacy all closely and conveniently located.  As it is situated along the coastline, getting around and to other parts of the Costa del Sol is so easy as public transport is very accessible.

The area is very Spanish by day and equally as Spanish by night.  With many restaurants, salsa bars, bodegas and nightclubs.  The only one to stand out here would be the Hogan Stand Irish Bar, which is the only non traditional bar in the area but which many holidaymakers flock to.

The Forbidden Square tempts people of all ages to come join in the festivities and to dance all night long.  It may seem not to hold much invitation in the cold light of day but at night and on weekends it bursts with lights,  life and a vivacity all of its own.  The very last Summer Fair takes place here in the week of 19th of October and lasts four days.  So it would seem that there is something to suit everyone in this unique, friendly and quaint little place.

Even though it is mainly Spanish families that reside here, there is a lovely mix of people from all walks of life but who obviously share common interests and goals.  This can only assist with the atmosphere of the people living here, as it makes it a place of calm acceptance and peaceful harmony with one’s neighbours and friends.

San Pedro is the epitome of friendly and accommodating, traditional Spanish hospitality.  What more could you possibly ask for?
