Marbella means beach, as between Cabopino and Guadalmina there are over 30 kilometres of beaches of all shorts to satisfy all tastes- from wild beaches like Artola to more urban ones such as La Venus, right in the heart of the city.
The municipality of Marbella starts with Guadalmina beach, on the western coast. This is a dark sandy beach, not very crowded, though it has a large number of amenities.
In San Pedro Alcántara you find first of all Playa de Linda Vista, also a rocky beach with dark sand and not busy.
The first really crowded beach you find is San Pedro Alcántara. It is an urban beach, with good services and amenities, several beach bars chiringuitos, and a large parking. It is a dark sandy beach, though it also has rocks.
Playa del Cortijo Blanco is a beautiful beach for strolling and enjoying the scenery, not so much for swimming.
If you continue your way towards Marbella you get to Puerto Banús marina.
Its two beaches, Río Verde and El Duque, are two of the most exclusive ones in the municipality, boasting top services and amenities. They are rather crowded specially in summer.
Along the sea promenade you get to the Puente Romano hotel area, located in the Golden Mile. Here you find similar beaches to those of Puerto Banús, but are far less crowded and offer a host of services such as chiringuitos, restaurants, showers, water sports, among others.
As for Marbella urban beaches, all of them share the same features- busy, several chiringuitos, sun beds, leisure activities, and dark sand proceeding from regeneration processes. If you are looking for services and like being surrounded by people, then these are your kind of beaches.
La Bajadilla, Faro, La Fontanilla and La Venus beaches are more centrally located, whereas El Cable and El Pinillo are semi-urban beaches and not so crowded. The latter is Marbella town center beach.
On the way to Málaga, you find Los Monteros beach. With brighter sand than the other western beaches in the municipality of Marbella, it has public showers and toilets, bins, and sun beds and parasols for rent. Leisure activities such as water sports, windsurfing, paddle boats, can be practiced here …
There are also of course some chiringuitos, just like in Playa de El Alicate and La Víbora beaches, which are located after Los Monteros.
Las Chapas, Artola and Cabopino are fine golden sandy beaches, though with some stones too, and boast good restaurants and bars as well as leisure activities. Many tourists say that these beaches are best ones in the whole municipality.
If you enjoy practicing naturism, playa de Cabopino is the single nudist beach in Marbella.
Overall, all the beaches in the municipality of Marbella offer all types of services and you can enjoy them both in summer as well as winter.
